Rich Marafioti – Letterpress and Edge Painted Business Cards

Rich is my tattoo artist and wanted a professional yet cool looking business card. We decided to collaborate on the project by having him draw up a design for the back of the card while I focused on typography, paper and print technique. The end result was a two sided letterpress business card with red painted edges on 236# Savoy paper.

New Client: LUNGevity Foundation

I am delighted to announce a new client! I have been designing the save the date, invitation and program guide for the LUNGevity Foundation’s Annual Fall Benefit. Three weeks ago I visited the space and took some great location shots of the benefit space. This year it will be hosted at the Ravenswood Event Center. Such an amazing space! I love working with non-profits. I feel fantastic creating beautiful work for such great causes! And yes, I did take this photo. :)

Walk this way…

It’s funny how I randomly meet future clients in the neighborhood. Well this particular client is very special. Lenny Clinton loves dogs. Probably even more so than I do. Around this time last year I went to my local Starbucks wearing my Italia track jacket to support my love of Italia and all things Italian pre World Cup (let’s not go there). As I was waiting for my drink, this man approached me and I was quizzed about Italian soccer. That man happened to be Lenny. He told me he has been walking dogs and wanted to really get the business off of the ground because of his love for animals. So, I told him if he was serious about this, to contact me. Well, after random visits and a crazy hectic work schedule, I was able to produce his new logo. He wanted something whimsical and fun, yet professional. So after a few rounds, this was his selection.  I hope you enjoy it as much as he does!

Fall is almost here!

Whew! What a ridiculously busy summer the Miaso Design team had. We are close to wrapping up a big web design project. Stay tuned for the results! We’ve also taken on some work for a new client in Washington DC! In other news, so glad the weather is turning cooler (yay fall fashion – boots and sweaters). I just wish the White Sox were in first place and going to the playoffs. But they had a pretty remarkable season so I can’t complain. Hope everyone had a great summer. Check back for more ramblings.

So Glad Summer Is Almost Over

Yes, I cannot stand the heat. At one time, I absolutely loved it. Not so much anymore. I guess I wouldn’t be complaining if I was on the beach in Italy, but due to my current workload that won’t be happening anytime soon. Speaking of work, I have a few great projects in the pipeline. Two websites and a few print projects. Futhermore, my beloved White Sox are still in playoff contention. Let’s hope they make it! Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Kristin Miaso is not a trained chef - But she does have more cowbell and since founding Miaso Design in 2000 she has been cooking up what can only be described as drool-worthy design.

Along with her very happy clients, Kristin has a grade-A team of writers, photographers and programmers that make it all look easy - the awards and design publications are just gravy.

A West Town Chicago native and current resident, Kristin has studied in Italy and worked in Belfast, Ireland. Along with her passion for design, She loves all things Italian (especially their motorcycles), dogs (especially her Lab/Dalmatian mix, Abby) and bacon (especially when it's crispy).
